I have written in this book about my thoughts on energy conservation, centering on my efforts to develop an energy-saving device, Setsuden-mushi, and my daily thoughts on the execution of my work.
It will be my pleasure if this book can be of some help to conserve the finite energy resources of the earth, to prevent global warming, and to protect the natural environment.
The amount of electricity that one Setsuden-mushi can save is small, but the number of facsimile machines currently in operation in Japan alone is no less than 10 million. Small energy savings have the potential to lead to large energy savings through individual efforts. We hope that this energy saving will be a gift to our future children.
Thanks to all of you, Setsuden-mushi turned 11 years old in June 2005. We hope that we can continue to contribute to your energy conservation efforts in our own size.
