Chapter 4 Birth of Setsuden-mushi (a profitmaking device) 4.4 COP3 (Kyoto Conference on Global Warming Prevention) 4.4.2 A Series of Media Introductions
Setsuden-mushi was introduced in the media as many as 11 times on a national or prefectural scale in 1997, when it received the Energy Conservation Center Chairman's Award and the Kyoto Conference on Climate Change (COP3) was held.
Since 1994, it was covered by TV, radio, and newspapers more than 80 times, and the following are the reports, speeches, and publications in Japan that were noteworthy introductions or milestones.
(1) "Zero power consumption while FAXs are standing by " by Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun in December, 1994.
(2) "Wasted Power Consumption in Homes and Offices" in the "Every day’s Little Science" of "Good Morning Japan" on NHK nationwide TV in August, 1996.
(3) The coverage of Setsuden-mushi in "What is the best way to use electricity?” featured by the Asahi. In June 1997, the Asahi Shimbun ran a special feature on energy and the environment entitled "The Energy Satiation Archipelago.
4) My lecture on "Measures to reduce standby electricity consumption" at the Science Forum in July 1998.
5) "30 units of standby electricity consumption cutting devices delivered to Mitaka City" in the Chugoku Shimbun in June 1999.
(6) "Founder's biography, proactive PR for environmental measures, development of fax power saving device from translation business” covered by The Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun in June 1999.
I am grateful to them for effectively promoting Setsuden-mushi as well as all of the other reports and coverages.
Incidentally, at the time of writing this book, in August 2005, Setsuden-mushi and another technical development of a Lock by Phone were introduced in many newspapers and magazine and they have been uploaded at the following site.
