Chapter 4 Birth of Setsuden-mushi (a profitmaking device) 4.3 Received the Energy Conservation Grand Prize 4.3.6 Award Ceremony
On the morning of January 29, 1997 (Wednesday), six days after the confirmation of the Energy Conservation Center, Japan Chairman's Award, the companies and the people who would be awarded in the 1996 (7th) "Energy Conservation Vanguard 21" were gathering one after another at the Science Museum in Kitanomaru Park, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
My father and I had come to Tokyo the day before and were staying at a hotel near Tokyo Station. We left the hotel in time for the ceremony at 10:20 a.m. and arrived at the venue around 10:00 a.m., sitting down at the seats assigned to the winners. We waited for about 20 minutes for the award ceremony to start, feeling a little restless as if we were sitting in the wrong place.
While I was waiting for the award ceremony and during the ceremony, I did not recall any specific scenes of the development work and sales hardships during the two years and seven months since the start of the development work.
Rather than that, the fact that I was selected for the award ceremony reminded me of the many people who taught me how to work and gave me guidance when I was working for TOYOBO, the many people including the professors of the university laboratory who took care of me when I was studying out of TOYOBO, and my wife who worked with me on a tripod to develop a product in a different field that seemed reckless, especially in terms of finance and accounting. The faces of my wife and those peoples came to mind one after another. I had nothing but gratitude for them.
Before the award ceremony of "21st Century Energy Conservation Equipment and System Award" (Energy Conservation Vanguard 21), there was award ceremonies for energy management contributors and excellent factories, as well as excellent posters and essays.
Finally, it was the turn of the eleven companies that received the Energy Conservation Center, Japan Chairman's Award to receive their awards, and the names of the companies and their representatives were announced in the order of the list.
The announced award recipients (companies) lined up in a row, and Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. received the Energy Conservation Center, Japan Chairman's Award certificate and plaque as a representative of us.
My father recorded all the activities during the award ceremony using a video camera and camera. It is a good memory that will last a lifetime.
The award ceremony ended at 11:50.
Receiving the Chairman's Award of the Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECC) at the "21st Century Energy Conservation Equipment and System Award" (Energy Conservation Vanguard 21) has made me realize that we should do everything with hard work and simplicity. No matter how many peaks and valleys there are, if we work hard, stay positive, and don't lose heart, we will achieve a good result. This was the first time I was directly involved in the development and production of product manufacturing.
