「とても見るに耐えない」

　　どうして人は年齢を重ねると頑固になるのだろう。

　　塾講師を始めた頃、私は学園ドラマの主人公のような熱血先生をめざしていたように思う。しかし、今は違う。現実を知ったからだ。学校のように不特定多数の生徒を集めると、玄関のガラスは割られるし、月謝は踏み倒されるし、教室内の問題集は盗まれるし、一生懸命に作ったプリントは帰りに捨てていく。保護者は

「月謝分成績あげろ！」

　と怒鳴り込んでくる。

　そんな毎日に疲れ果ててしまった。生活も不安定になり、受験指導どころではなくなった。

Why do peoplebecome obstinate when they get older? 

When I began torun my own school, I wanted to become a kind of hero like a main character inTV program.  But now I have a differentidea because I know the reality.

When I gatheredstudents and accepted all the students, some broke the glass of the door,didn’t pay their tuition fees, stole the reference books in the classes andthrew away papers I made.

The theirparents cried

“Let my son get a good school record.  That is your job because I paid.”

  I have been tired of such life.  My school had a financial problem, too. 

　　骨の髄まで

「学園ドラマは虚構だ。嘘だ。ろくでなしは教育不可能、矯正不可能」

　　と悟った。そういう目で歴史をふりかえってみると、いつの時代もどの国にも凶悪犯はいて性善説など成立しない。

  I knew the TV drama was wrong andlie.  Bad students cannot be taught.  It is impossible to reform them.  Looking back at the past, we always had gangsany time in any country.  I don’t believein the view of human nature as fundamentally good any more.

　　若い頃は無知だから夢を見ることができる。しかし、現実が見えてくるとろくでなしの犠牲になっている生徒が見えてくる。

「医者になって患者を救う生徒と、人殺しもしかねないろくでなし」

　　そのどちらを指導するのか。自分の生活だけでなく、子供たちの生活もかかっていたので選択の余地などなかった。

  When we are young, we are ignorant.  That is why we can believe in such a stupididea but when we get mature, we know the reality.  It means good students are always at thesacrifice of bad students. 

  I cannot accept the reality.  I wanted to protect good students.  I also had to protect my own children.  My school must be stable financially.

　　私は、今では頑固オヤジだ。もはやお花畑のような考え方には戻れない。良いものを悪いものの区別がすぐつくようになったから、悪いものを見るに耐えないようになった。

　　真面目で勤勉な生徒の支持は厚くなったので、それが自分の社会における役割だと割り切っている。素行の悪い人には近づかないようにしている。モンスターペアレントと言われる人たちは現実を知らないだけだ。

  Now I’m pumpkin-headed and cannot go back to astupid idea.  I can tell good studentsand bad students easily.  I cannot put upwith very bad students.

  My school is liked and supportedby good students and stable financially. I stay away from bad students and their parents.

　　そんな悪い生徒を相手にしたら、毎日盗まれた問題集を買い足し、壊された備品を修理し、踏み倒された月謝の手当てをする日々に変わる。授業の準備なんか出来なくなる。

　　まともな授業をしたかったら、そういう雑務から開放されなければならない。モンスターペアレントの人たちは、

「自分でやってみろ」

　だ。できるわけがないのだから。

  If we teach bad students, we have to fixbroken desks, buy new books and have to think about how to live with unstableincome.

  If we want to give good teaching,we have to be free from such problems. 

　たとえば、バイオリンの初心者に演奏させると、ほとんど騒音だ。時と場合によっては、ピアノ殺人事件のように人に殺意を起こさせるほど不快なわけだ。それは、音楽だけでなく私たちは一流のアスリートや芸術家の作品は見るが素人のは見ない。

　　見るに耐えないからだ。

　　勉強だって、実は同じことなのだ。立派な英作文や、見事な数式による証明はほれぼれとするが、未熟なものは見るに耐えない。なぜなら、そこに現れているのは「怠惰な生活」「怠けた生活」の結果が現れているからだ。

　For example, it is just a noise when poor violinists play theviolin.  We sometimes have a seriousproblem of killing because of a noise from the next door.  We enjoy only good music, top athletes andtop singers.

  Good things are good and badthings are bad.  People think and feelthat way. Why not teachers?

「滅びのプテラノドン」

　　私は男だが、美人に生まれたらどんな人生なんだろう？こんなに頑張って働かなくても玉の輿で楽々なんだろうか。男どもの注目を浴びるのだろうか。すっごいビキニでも着て海辺で寝転がると男どもが寄ってくるのだろうか。

でも、あの天地真理もドラエモンのようになってしまい、美人なんて５年ももたない。

  I’m a man but how is it if I’m a beautifulwoman.  Do I have to work so hard?  I just find a rich man and seduce him.  Do a lot of man gather around me if I wear aswimming suit on the beach?

But we know abeautiful woman soon became like Doraemon in several years.

　　英語はペラペラになったけれど、この世界には数千の言語があるという。そのたった２つが話せるだけ。５ヶ国語話せると天才という人がいるけど、全然そう思えない。数千のうちの２こ話せるのと５こ話せるので、どれだけの差があるというのだろう。。

　　そのうち、翻訳コンニャクが発明されたら意味がなくなる。

　　Now I can speak English fluently but they say there are thousands oflanguages in the world.  Mine is just 2among such a big number.  They say aperson who speaks 5 or more languages are generous but I don’t think so because2 or 5 among thousand mean nothing for me.

　　塾講師をしているから「数Ⅲ」くらいは分かる。そして、その向こうに広大な数学の世界が広がっている。ここまで来るのに６０歳になってしまった。呆然とする。フランス語がマスターできるくらいで死ぬだろうが、数学もあまり先に行けそうにない。

　　できれば、ガリレオの湯川先生のようになりたいけど無理みたい。

   I’m a cramming school teacher and can solvesenior high level math problems and can feel advanced level math world.  I’ll become 60 soon.  I don’t have much time to go forward.

　　小学生の頃に勉強をし始めた時

「こうやって勉強していけば、この世のことは何でも分かる」

　　と単純に考えていた。

　　しかし、勉強すればするほど

「何にも分かっていない」

　　という思いが強くなるだけ。

　　父は四日市高校、名古屋大学と合格していく成績の良い私を見て喜んでくれたけれど、それでもこの程度だ。

　　鉄腕アトムはアンドロイドで、エイトマンはサイボーグだったのだろうか。いつか、そういうロボットを作ろうと思っていたが、夢らしい。

  When I was an elementary schoolstudent,

“We can reach the goal if we follow teachers’ words.”

  But we had no goal.  My father looked happy when I passed theentrance exam to Nagoya University.  Theysaid I was smart.  But I don’t think so.  I used to dream I would make Atom Boysomeday.  However it seems just a dream.

　　人は裸で生まれ、裸で死んでいくのだ。学校の先生が

「仲良くやれ」

　　と言っても仲良くなれるわけがない。腹の立つヤツばかり。一人でいるのは、そんなに避けるべきことと思えないし。

　　少林寺拳法をやったら野蛮になった。勉強したら分からないことが増えた。世界中を旅行したら疲れた。何をやっても、病気か事故で悲惨な死に方をするのは変わりない。

　　人権などと言いながら、ろくでなしは首をくくって殺すのが社会のありよう。きれいごとなんて、たくさんだ。

  We are born and die alone with nothing.  Teachers said

“Behave well and get along with others.”,which is impossible because there are so many stupid people.  It is pretty comfortable to be alone.  Am I strange?

  I practiced Karate and becamesavage.  I studied hard and knew I knownothing.  I traveled and tired.  Then people die in an accident or disease.

  Teachers said no discriminationagainst anyone but we kill such people giving death penalty.

　　一生懸命勉強して科学技術を発展させた先に何が待っているのだろう。恐竜のように絶滅の危機が訪れるだけかもしれない。

　　まぁ、娘たちと孫たちが無事であればいいことにしよう。何億年先なんて知らない。食べて、寝て、今日一日が無事ならハッピーだ。

北朝鮮のような独裁が長持ちするわけがないし、政治が共産主義で経済が資本主義なんてねじれた中国も崩壊以外の道があるわけない。静かに崩壊してくれるとありがたいが、どうなることやら。

 What is waitingfor us after we get an advanced technology? Will we disappear as dinosaurs did? I’m not interested in what will happens after thousands of years.  Eat, sleep and a happy day.  That’s enough.

 North Korea, dictator.  Communist government and capitalisticeconomy.  They cannot last long.  What will happen next.  Nobody knows.

アメリカではリアル「ターミネーター」が数年内に実戦配備されるという。戦争もロボットがやるようになるのだろう。既に無人機が爆撃を行っている。機械が人間を殺しているわけだ。科学技術の勝利のように祝っていいことなのだろうか。

Newspapers saythe U.S. will dispose Terminator in a few years.  In the near future, robots kill a lot ofpeople.  Already no pilot jets drop bombsover people.  Science might destroy us.

アメリカ、ロシア、イギリス、フランス、中国が国連の常任理事国っていうのも、無理がある。特権階級を作ったら不平不満が起こるのは当たり前だ。でも、平和な世界ってイメージが湧かない。どこかの国が犠牲になって、どこかの国が美味しい目を見る。そういう現実に慣れてしまった。

Only the U.S.,Russia, Britain, France and China have veto.  Why? Someday people all over the world will stand against such adiscrimination. 

　　私たちはプテラノドンのように滅びてしまうのだろうか？

第百八十三章

「京都大学の採点基準」

テストには「教育テスト」と「選抜テスト」があります。学校の定期テストは教育テストで、生徒が授業をどのくらい理解しているか確認して授業進度の参考にする。

　入試は選抜テストで、生徒をふるいにかけて「合格」「不合格」を分けるだけの目的で実施します。もちろん、完全な相対評価で点数など関係なく上位の合格グループを選抜するだけ。

　　We have two kinds of test.  One is tests held in school and the other isan entrance test.  The former is to checkhow well students understand the contents and the latter is to divide studentsinto 2 groups.

　　私の添削状況は、京大の本番に近いと思われます。つまり、ほとんどの答案は京大受験生のもの。それで、評価をする時は

「さっきのは７４だから、こっちは少し下だから６４」

　といった具合。

  What I’m doing is almost the same as the realentrance exam to the University of Kyoto. I mean nearly all the papers are from the examinees and I check themusing my experience. 

　京大の入試は「和訳」と「英作文」だけなので、セットの印象で評価をつけます。客観テストのように配点を決めていません。決められません。決める必要もありません。

　選抜テストは上位の３割ほどをすくい上げるために実施するわけですから、順位が全てで点数に意味はありませんし、変動します。

  The test has only translation from Japanese toEnglish and vice versa.  It is not theobjective test.  They just want goodstudents, which means top 30% of all the examinees.  Score means nothing. 

　　私はそれを確認したいので、京大を７回も受けたわけです。私の英語力は７年間で変動したと思えないのに、得点は６割台から８割台まで変動しました。もちろん、基準はあると思います。二次では６５％程度が合否のボーダーですから（医学部を除く）。

  I wanted to make sure if my view is right ornot.  My English ability is steady but myscore was not stable.  It changed from60% to 80%.  Of course, they must havesome criteria because 65% is usually the border line.

  　多くの添削をさせてもらい、本番後の成績開示を教えてもらい採点基準の推測が可能となりました。私の見るところ「単数・複数」「三単現のｓ」「時制の一致」「スペルミス」「語彙不足」といった初歩的ミスを繰り返す方は５割台から下。

  I’ve check a lot of papers and knew the resultof the exams my students took.  Accordingto them, their score was under 50% if they make some mistakes about the basicrules.

　　基本的ミスは少ないが、文脈が把握されていないと５割より上。そのミスがないと６割台。基本的なミスがなく、文脈も把握されていると７割台。表現力とかセンスを感じさせると７割後半。赤本の模範解答を越えるような答案は８割台という感じです。

　　つまり、

「この子には来てもらっては困る」

　　というのは、他の科目で挽回できるそうにない点数―つまり、５割台以下―をつける。不合格グループに入れる。

   A few mistakes about the basicrules but it seems the examinee doesn’t understand the content.  Then he or she gets above 50%.  No mistakes, above 60%.  A good writing, 70%.  If it is just like the model answers in somereference books, 80%.

　　さて、質問の答えですがセットで評価させてもらう場合「和訳」「英作」がそれぞれ評価が何かと考えておりません。他のセットで添削依頼をされている方との相対評価だし、再現不可能なので自分でも一度評価したものを再度質問されても分からない。

　　申し訳ありませんが、ご理解願います。「６５」という評価は多くの場合「和訳７割」「英作６割」です。

　私は戦後派だから、闇市のことは知らない。　“焼跡闇市派”の作家である野坂昭如さんの作品をたくさん読んで雰囲気だけは想像した。当時、配給制度をかたくなに守って餓死した裁判官がいたそうだ。

　　Iwas born in 1956.  11 years after thewar.  I know nothing about it.  But some books gave me what happened justafter the war.  For example, a judge diedbecause he didn’t want to buy rice at illegal markets.

  Atthat time, Japanese people had little rice and the government a rationsystem.  But no enough food.  Unless they bought food at illegal market,they had to die at some cities.

山口良忠

山口 良忠（やまぐち よしただ、1913年11月16日 - 1947年10月11日）とは、日本の裁判官。佐賀県出身。太平洋戦争の終戦後の食糧難の時代に、闇市の闇米を拒否して食糧管理法に沿った配給食糧のみを食べ続け、栄養失調で餓死した事で知られる。

　私は小さい頃に

「お茶を火にかけとけ」

　　と言われて、七輪にお茶をかけて叱られたことがある。文字通りに聞いてしまったのだ。

　　ネットで「珍解答」で検索をすれば、おかしな解答がいくつも出てくる。私は仕事柄、その実物をいくつも見るわけだ。先日も、天気記号の「くもり」を書く問題を出したら、丸の中に米粒ほどの大きさの文字で「くもり」と書いた子がいた。

  When I was a little kid, my mother said

  So I pour tea on a stove.  She scolded me.  But I just did what she said.

  In a science test, the question was

　高校生までは、私も日本は法治国家だと信じていた。しかし、今は違う。大学に入ったら未成年なのに、大学生はおおっぴらにお酒を飲んでいた。公営ギャンブル以外はギャンブル禁止のはずなのに、パチンコ店は完全にギャンブルだった。売春防止法があるのに、ソープランドは売春をしていることが公然の秘密だった。

　　最初にストリップ劇場に連れて行かれた時に、私は公然わいせつ罪で逮捕されることを怖れて

「先輩、ここに警察が踏み込んだらボクらどうなるんです？」

　　と尋ねたものだ。先輩の言葉は

「アホか！」

　　だった。

　　I believed that Japan was acountry under the rule of law until I was a senior high school student.  However Not now.  After entering Nagoya University, I knew studentswere drinking alcohol even before 20.  InJapan all gambling are illegal except public one.  However Pachinko was gambling.  Prostitution is illegal.  However everybody knew they were doing it inSoap land.

  My friend took me to a strip theater and itwas obscenity and I said

“Wewill be under arrest!”

  My friend said

“No,it is impossible.”

 それだけではない。

塾に勤務したら、塾長は売り上げを過少申告していた。

「自分だけ正直に申告したら競争に勝てない」

　とのことだった。

　それどころか、絶対に英語が身につかない教材が何十万円もして堂々と売られていたし、絶対に合格できそうにない子に

「私が指導すれば大丈夫」

　　と言って勧誘していた。

「これって、サギじゃない？」

　　と思ったが、黙っていた。そういえば、同級生で睡眠学習気を買った子がいた。バカな子だったが。

　　WhenI was working for a school, my boss made a false return of his income.

“If Imake a honest return, we cannot survive.”

  Most of the schools make false returns.  

　　Uselesslearning materials are sold and they are over 200000 yen.  Some teachers said to bad students

“Youcan pass it.”

  I thought

“Thisis fraud or swindle.”

英検２級の講師が、帰国子女で英検１級を持つ中学生を指導していた。東海高校を落ちた先生が、東海高校を受ける生徒を指導していた。名古屋大学を落ちて南山に行った講師が、名大受験生を指導していた。

　　脱税したお金でバンバン広告を打つ塾が繁栄し、正直に申告して貧乏になり倒産していく塾があった。高額の教材を売り抜けたら、倒産した会社があった。計画的なにおいもした。

「勝てば官軍」

  Step 2nd grade teacher wasteaching 1st grade student. The teacher who failed in the entrance exam to Tokai high school wasteaching students who were going to take the entrance exam to Tokai highschool.  The teacher who failed in theentrance exam to Nagoya University was teaching the students who will sit forthe entrance exam to Nagoya University.

　　世の中の人は、敗者には無能ものと罵り、大金をつかんだヤツは無条件に称賛する。負けたらダメなのだ。

　　高校時代は、チョット触れただけで犯罪者あつかいだった女性へのタッチも、金をちらつかせると喜んでパンツを脱ぐ女子がいて驚愕だった。

芸能界を見よ。覚せい剤をやろうが、銃刀法違反をやろうが、恐喝をやろうが、暴力団とつながっていようが、関係ない。売れて大金をにぎったが勝ち。売れなきゃ、行き倒れだ。

People abuse losersand praise winners unconditionally.  Moneyis everything to some people.  Some womenare happy to show their naked with some money even though it is a crime totouch them in ordinary life. 

In show business, theycan survive even if they enjoy illegal hemp, break Gun Control Act and haveconnection with gangs.  Making moneyerases their crimes.

塾、予備校業界でも事情は同じだ。

銀行に行ったら

「大規模校が勝ち組、個人塾は負け組み。融資などできるわけがない」

　　と罵った銀行があった。何をしてもいいから、金をつかまないと人間扱いされない。

　　そんな日本も、世界の中ではクリーンな方らしい。中国や韓国はさらに腐敗や汚職まみれと聞く。

  In cramming schools, people are not sodifferent.  When I talked with a bankman, he said

“Abig schools are winners and small ones are losers.”

 Everyone believes whatever is fine if it makesmoney.  

  This is disgusting but they say Japan is muchcleaner than Korea or China.

　　私の指導させてもらっている優秀な塾生の子たちも、バカ騒ぎを繰り返す生徒を見て、真顔で

「あの子たち、みんな死ねばいいのに・・・」

　　と、つぶやいた。この先、彼女たちは、社長になると

「バカには、適当に言って売りつければいいの」

　　と、言いそうだ。

  My students sometimes say to bad students

“Theyare not worth living.”

  They would sell cheap ones saying

“Itis O.K. because they cannot tell the difference.”

「あの子たち、みんな死ねばいいのに」（３）

　　こんな世の中の実態を知って、公立中学校の教師は

「みんなで仲良く助け合おう」

　　というスローガンで指導しているのだろうか。本気だったら無知の極み。嘘だったら、とっくに見破られている。そんなスローガンを守って、清く、正しく、美しく生きようとしたら、山口裁判官のように死んでしまう。

「おまえ、死ね！」

　　と、言っているに等しい。簡単に死んでたまるか。

　　Do public school teachersknow the reality?  Do they say

“Let’shelp each other.”

  knowing the reality?  If they are serious, it means they show theirignorance.  If they lie, students knowthe lies.  If we have to follow such a sloganand live in pure, right and beautiful way, we have to die like Yamaguchi judge.

“You,die”

  Such a slogan kills us.  

「学力順位を教えると、競争をあおるから教えられない」

　　なんて、アホなことを言っていたら生徒が入試で落ちるではないか。

「みんな少しでも偏差値の高いところに行かないと仕事が見つからない」

「女子は金持ちや生活力がないと結婚してくれないぞ」

　　というのが、言わなくても分かっている現実。

“Wewon’t tell your son’s school record.”

  That’s what public school teacher say.

  Students cannot pass the entrance exam togood schools under this circumstance.

“Unlessyou study hard, you cannot find a good job.”

“Girlsin general like boys who have good school background.”

  That is the reality.

　　生徒たちは、

「高木先生は、学校の先生と違ってウソは言わないから信用できる」

　　と言う。

「人間は、みんな平等」

なんて、女子は言わない。模範生のように言われている生徒も、私の前では

「Ｆランクの成績なのに、私に告白してきた。冗談じゃないわよね、先生！」

　　と、私に言った女子もいた。

My students say

“Mr.Takagi doesn’t tell a lie.”

  Female students don’t say

“Weare all equal.”

  Even the very best students said

“Aboy in F class school told me he liked me.  No way!”

女子は、きっちりランクつけしている。男子もそうだ。なのに、教師だけ

「差別はイカンよ。顔じゃない。金じゃない。心だよ」

　　と、繰り返す。それは、理想であって現実とは違う。ものごとは、両面を教えないと生きてゆけない。それを、教育というのだろう。

  Not only male students but also femalestudents know the reality.  But onlyteachers live in imaginary world.  Why?

“Faceis nothing.  Money is nothing.  Heart is everything.”

  They just repeat this.  In my view, students should know not only anideal but also the reality.  That iseducation.

　　顔じゃない？じゃ、福山雅治のような男と、出川哲朗のような男を前にして女子に

「どちらと付き合う？」

　　と尋ねたら、顔は関係ないのだろうか？桐谷美玲と森三中の太い方が目の前に来ても

「顔じゃない」

　　と言えるのだろうか。たとえ、強弁したところでイケメンや美人が何億円という富を産み足している現実に変わりはない。生徒たちは、そういう現実を知っているのだから、いいかげんに建前はよして欲しい。

  If you have handsome men and ugly men, infront of you, which do you like?

Can youimagine the answer female students in general have?  Does face have nothing to do with the choice?

  Even if you deny the appearance, nice lookingboys make a lot of money.  Students knowthe fact and don’t trust what teachers say.

• クラブ活動は強制はやめて、自由参加に変える。

• 自分の学力順位を教えてほしい。

• 班学習はやめて、一斉授業にして欲しい。

• 授業が終了したら、すぐに帰宅させて欲しい。

　　「Dr. コトー診療所」のコトー先生は、離島にいるというだけでヤブ医者扱いだった。本当は名医でも素人には分からない。「白い巨塔」の財前先生のように、大病院にいると患者の命などなんとも思わなくても名医と見なされる。里美医師のように良心的な医師は小さな病院に追いやられたりする。

　　Ifyou are working as a doctor in a small island, you are regarded as a baddoctor.  If you are working in a bighospital, people believe you are a good doctor. But the reality shows this is not always true.

　　しかし、世間の人はそういう内部情報が分からないので知名度や建物の大きさで判断して命を落としたりする。

   But they cannot know how good the doctor isonly by appearance.  So it is naturalthat they judge him or her according to his or her workplace.  And sometimes they lose their life.

　　私は名古屋の大規模塾で４０人講師の中で２番人気だったし、英検１級や通訳ガイドの国家試験を持っているし、京大二次の成績開示は英語も数学もボーダーを越えているし、指導した塾生は京大医学部、阪大医学部、名大医学部に合格した。

  I passed some difficultEnglish tests and my students passed the entrance exams to the University ofKyoto, medical department.  However stillpeople believe I might not a good teacher because I’m living in a ruralarea.  This is ridiculous, isn’t it?

　　しかし、三重県の田舎の実家にもどって自分の塾を開設したとたんヤブ医者扱いになったのは先に書いたとおりだ。Dr.コトーと同じ事情だ。一部の高学力の子たちは、そういう外見だけで判断しないので支持者が増えて倒産せずにすんでいる。

　　ただ、力量のある子でも見かけだけで判断する子が多いのは驚きもした。それも、仕方ないことなので傍観している。私は、自分と家族と塾生が幸福であればそれでいいし、それしか出来ない。

  Smart students have supported my school.  They don’t decide he or she is good or notjust by the working place.  I accept thisreality.

　　数年前からネットや写メが中学生や高校生に普及してきたので、アメブロにブログを書き始めたら、アットいう間に「受験生」ジャンルのランキングが１位になった。それで、試しに「通信添削」コースを設置したら毎年倍々ゲームで生徒が増えて今では処理できないほどになってきた。北海道から鹿児島まで通信生がいる状態だ

　　経営の大きな柱に育ちつつある。どんなに遠くても、直接会わなくても支持してくれる人がいるわけだ。私は生き残るためには

「支持者とファンを大切にする」

　　しか選択肢はないわけだ。難関校に合格するような子たちは、タレントのＣＭなどには見向きもしないので助かっているわけだ。

  I have quite a few students who like myschool.  So what I should do is to try togive the best service to my fans.  Goodstudents in general don’t trust TV commericials using famous entertainers.

「あの子たち、みんな死ねばいいのに」（５）

　　高学力の子たちは、一般に見る目があるので愚かな判断はヘタな証明と同じで嫌悪感を持つ。茶碗の職人がデキの悪い茶碗を叩き壊すようなイメージだ。三流品を見ると

「あの子たち、みんな死ねばいいのに」

　　と言う子もいるくらいだから、実情が分かってもらえるだろうか。そういう子は、逆に誠実に対応すると実際に会わなくても

「コイツは使える」

　　と思ってくれる。そういう子たちだから、Ｚ会や進研ゼミなどの知名度が高い通信添削ではなくて、私のような無名の講師を信用できるのだろう。激しいのだ。四日市高校は、県立ナンバーワンなので三重県の教育委員会も腕ききの教師を配置する。

  Smart students can tell the differencebetween beautiful things and ugly ones. So they dislike ugly ones.  Asmart girl said

“Stupidstudents should die.”

  It is not good but she has a reason why.  Bad students cannot behave well in the classand waste time and bother ordinary students’ study.

  Such good students, at least some choose myschool’s correspondent course although we have well known correspondent courselike Z会　and 進研ゼミ.

　　それでも、生徒たちはたちどころに先生の力量と熱意を見抜いて

「あの先生はいいけど、この先生は難関校に合格できる力はない」

　　と、すぐ判定・評価を下してしまうのだ。

 The board of education in Mie prefecture send good students toYokkaichi high school because it is the best one.  But good students say

“Ateacher is good but B teacher cannot pass the entrance exam to gooduniversities.”

　　そんな真剣な生徒だと、鹿児島と三重県でも距離は関係ないらしい。

　　こんなブログタイトルを付けると、人権派の教師や左翼教師、弁護士は怒り狂うらしい。実際、誹謗中傷の書き込みも多い。私のやっていることを否定するために、あら捜しに奔走している人の話も聞いた。

  For such students, the location of my schoolhas nothing to do with their judgement.  Left-wingteachers and lawyers must dislike my school. Maybe some of them write bad things on the bulletin board of myhomepage.

　　しかし、京大、阪大、名大とも医学部は定員１００名くらいで狭い世界なのだ。否定しようにも内部の人に聞けば私の話が全て事実だと分かること。否定しようがない。

  But the medical department of the Universityof Kyoto, Osaka, Nagoya have only around 100 students.  It is easy to check what I write is true ornot.  They cannot deny what I write.

　　それに、私は楽しいからやっている。先日も、四日市高校の女子が

「数学が上位の１２番だった」

　　と報告してきた。とても嬉しそうで、私も嬉しくなった。長年の努力の成果だし、京都大学に手が届くレベルでもある。私は現役時代にそんなスゴイ塾生の子たちのような才能はなかった。

　　I enjoy my work.  The other day, a female student told me thatshe was on the best students’ list.  Shehas a chance to pass the entrance exam to best universities.

「あの子たち、みんな死ねばいいのに」（６）

　　北野さんがテレビで言っているように

「本気で人のことなんか考える人っているの？」

　　親子でも反目しあうことが多い。遺産相続で兄弟が醜い争いをあちこちでやっている。聖書を読めば、イエスを裏切った人はユダだけではないことがよく分かる。人間って、本当にどうしようもなくダメで醜い面がある。

　　それを、「愛だ」「絆だ」「友情だ」などと言われた時に、中学生の私でさえ

「ウソをつけ！」

　　と反発した。ＴＶドラマや漫画の方がよっぽど正直で真理を突いていると思ったよ。

　　受験なんて世界は、ナマの感情が表に出るから

「あいつを引き摺り下ろすとオレが合格する確率が少し増えるかな」

　　と考えるのが普通だ。「助け合い」なんてしたら、自殺行為だからね。

　　うちの塾生の子たちは、５分、１０分でもムダにせずに単語帳を広げて覚える子ばかりだ。人を３０分待たせても平気なおバカさんなど相手にできるわけがない。アポなしで訪問されても応対できるわけがない。

　　非常識な人を相手にできるほど暇ではないんだよ。

　　３歳の子供に「ガンをつけられた」と「踵おとし」をくらわせて殺した暴力団員がいた。１９０センチの体格の大男が３歳の子供を殺して

「我が人生に悔いなし」

　　とほざいたそうだ。

　　第百九十章

「あの子たち、みんな死ねばいいのに」（７）

　　塾に、むかしはそんな愚か者が何人もいた。そして、塾から追い出すと

「オレの息子をバカ扱いするのか！」

　　と怒鳴り込まれたこともある。親が親なら、子も子だ。

　　受精するときに、ＤＮＡが突然おかしな組み合わせになることがある。ありえない組み合わせで、とんでもない凶暴な人間や、とんでもないタワケが生まれる確率をゼロにできないわけだから、対応を考えるしかない。

　　今のところ、どうしようもない人間はひっ捕まえて刑務所に放り込んでおくか、死刑にして抹殺することになっている。遺伝子の研究が進めば、ろくでなしの遺伝子が解明されるかもしれないが、人類生き残りには必要な遺伝子かもしれない。消滅はさせられないだろう。

　　人生とは、こういう混沌、予測不能の、不条理な世界だと認めるべき。そうだとすると、学校で極悪人と天才的な頭脳を持つ子を強制的に同じ教室に詰め込む現行方式の愚かさが分かる。

　　ハーバードだって、京大だって、誰彼みさかいなしに入学などさせない。それなりの人たちばかりで切磋琢磨させないと勉強や研究など進むわけがない。受験指導していて思うのは、

「なんで排除の論理を非難するのか」

　　ということ。

「１人残らず救う。絶対に見捨てない」

　　なんて綺麗ごとは、いつも真面目な子たちの犠牲の上に成り立つ。

「なんでバカのために、まともな子が犠牲にならなければならないのか」

　　そこに気づいた人たちは、経済的に余裕があれば私立に逃げている。

　　せめて、クラブ活動は自由化すべきだろう。そうでないと、まともな子たちが救われない。
